Focus on Design Before Investing in SEO
April 13, 2010 | Web DesignI received a project inquiry from a potential client the other day, and he was interested in a heavy Search Engine Optimization (SEO) campaign for his website. He wanted the whole nine yards –an onsite blog, social networking profiles, and a link building strategy.
I was thrilled to have the opportunity to bid on his project. I reviewed his website and immediately noticed the out-dated design of his site. I couldn’t quickly find the focal point of the home page and there were countless other design flaws which most likely gives viewers a negative impression about his organization.
More often than not, your website will be the first point of contact from a new customer. Your site needs to have clear focus and drive viewers to your site’s main objective. Do you want viewers to call you, register for more information, or purchase a product? What ever your main objective is, it needs to be accomplished quickly and easily by visitors.
So, I advised my client to invest in redesigning his site and getting it up to par before driving traffic to the site. It is so much more important to have all of the right design and functionality elements in place otherwise viewers will get lost and simply go to another website. You wouldn’t wear a sloppy and really outdated suit to an interview would you? It’s the same concept.
Take advantage of my free, no obligation website evaluation. I will give you my honest opinion about where your hard earned dollars will get the most return of investment. I will give you the best solution for any size budget. Contact me today!
